Hey traders,
Firstly, we wish you a happy Juneteenth and Father’s Day! They occur on the same day and for many, this is especially significant.
On to business, we have some trading holidays coming up. It’s always good to be informed when the market will be closed or there will be an early halt. The following is from CME Group and applies to the E-mini S&P 500 and other equity index products (markets). Note that variations exist for other types of assets, such as crypto, interest rates, FX, and commodities. See the official CME Group calendar page for details.
Juneteenth, Monday, June 20
• Market halt @ 1:00 p.m. US/Eastern (UTC-4)
• Market reopen @ 6:00 p.m. US/Eastern (UTC-4)
Independency Day, Monday, July 4
• Market halt @ 1:00 p.m. US/Eastern (UTC-4)
• Market reopen @ 6:00 p.m. US/Eastern (UTC-4)
After July 4th, the next trading holiday occurs in September. Can you guess what it is? If you guess Labor Day, you are correct! We’ll likely do another post as that date comes closer.
Remember, around trading holidays, there can be a lack of volatility as some of the big players stay out or take extended weekend vacations. Make note of the halts so that you can conclude your positions in the most successful way possible.
Good trading!
